Sheboygan's People of the Year: Stories that made our county proud in 2019:

Kayla Pittner and Betsy Klauck, for not one but two world titles

Sheboygan's Dollhouse Dance Factory had already won a hip-hop world championship, in 2017.

But two, in the same year?

"It had genuinely never crossed any of our minds," said Dollhouse owner Kayla Pittner in May, after teams coached by her and Assistant Director Betsy Klauck brought home golds at the international Dance Worlds in Orlando.

Sheboygan natives and accomplished dancers themselves, Pittner and Klauck trained the two teams of teens — one with 15 girls and the other with 22, with many girls on both squads — for 10 hours per week over 10 months.

Dollhouse teams performed two other routines that placed fourth and 10th at the event, which features 5,000 dancers from more than 40 countries.

Pittner is a former Milwaukee Bucks dancer and opened Dollhouse Dance Factory (3323 South Business Drive) in 2013. As of May, they served 450 dancers from ages 3 to mid-20s.
